Like many communities in Orange County, California, Huntington Beach Real Estate has gone down in fair market value over the past few years. This is due largely to the large number of short sales and also the large number of bank owned (REO) properties.  Although this doesn't bode well with sellers, there are some incredible opportunities for buyers who can now buy properties they couldn't afford even 5 years ago because they now cost sometimes 100's of thousands of dollars less, as well as, the interest rates being amazingly low.   Many people that relocated here comment on how clean the cities are. Families love the area because of the Huntington Beach Unified School System is considered one of the best school districts in the country. There is a very large selection of amazing private schools to choose from as well.  Retirees are buying Huntington Beach Homes because of the nice retirement communities and you get a better value for your money in the Huntington Beach market. Many Huntington Beach residents find their families either grow or shrink over the years and may be in need of a larger or smaller home.  These people have grown to love the Huntington Beach area so much that they refuse to look elsewhere.  Luckily, they don't have to!

Huntington Beach residents commonly refer to themselves as Surf Cityites, as there is no easy explanation for the uniqueness of the Huntington Beach-Orange County areas that is home to over 200,000 people and is the third largest city in Orange County and the 19th largest in the State of California, more than 60,000 people are currently employed by over 10,000 businesses in the city.    The terrain of the Huntington Beach area is mostly at sea level but there are a few hills. One of several very nice residential neighborhoods is located on Edwards Hill.  The climate is generally sunny, dry and cool, although evenings can be damp due to the ocean breeze.  Prevailing westerly and southwesterly winds off the Pacific Ocean help maintain pleasant, smog-free weather year round with temperatures ranging mostly from 65° to 80° Fahrenheit. The mean annual humidity is 64.7%.
